Fortnite Battle Royale's Chapter 7 Season 4 has arrived with a significant overhaul of its in-game loot pool. The update sees the removal of nearly all weapons and movement items from the previous season, replaced by a curated selection of returning favorites and entirely new additions. The only loot items to carry over are Overdrive Grenades and the game's various healing items, meaning players will need to adapt to a largely new battlefield.
Among the most notable additions are three new firearms: the 8-Bit Shotgun, the Mega Buster, and Midas' Masterpiece. The 8-Bit Shotgun, designed to resemble a retro game console, uses game cartridges as ammunition and features a scoring system during gameplay. It offers similar functionality to the Maven Shotgun but with an extended effective range. The Mega Buster, inspired by Mega Man's iconic weapon, fires explosive rounds that can be charged. Wielding this weapon also grants the player a slide-dash ability, contingent on their stamina.
Further diversifying the arsenal is Midas' Masterpiece, a pistol with the unique property of eliminating any opponent with a single headshot. However, only one of these pistols will spawn per match, making its discovery a significant advantage. Complementing the new weapons are several new consumable items. The God Mode Llama grants temporary invincibility and the ability to destroy environmental objects by sprinting through them, though it disables weapon usage. The Tetris Rift functions similarly to the Junk Rift but instead heals players if it lands on them. Finally, the 1-Up Token allows players to respawn with their entire inventory, a feature reminiscent of the Kenny Token from a previous South Park event.
In addition to these new items, Epic Games has unvaulted ten previously available weapons, many of which draw from Fortnite's earlier chapters, aligning with the season's retro theme. These include the Pump Shotgun, Assault Rifle, Ranger Assault Rifle, Drum Gun, Minigun, Tactical Pistol, Dual Pistols, Oni Shotgun, Flare Gun, and Bass Boost. The inclusion of the Oni Shotgun from Chapter 6 and the Tactical Pistol from Chapter 4 also adds more recent legacy content to the mix.
Epic Games has indicated that the loot pool will continue to evolve throughout Season 4, with additional weapons and items planned for future updates. Teasers in the season trailer have already hinted at potential additions, such as Rebecca's Guns from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the Kingdom Key from Kingdom Hearts, suggesting further collaborations and unique weaponry are on the horizon.
