Developers Playground Games are actively addressing instances of save data loss affecting some Forza Horizon 6 players, with a particular focus on PC users. The studio is advising these players to verify they are running the latest version of Microsoft Gaming Services, as this application is integral to deploying PC-specific solutions for the problem.

"Our team is investigating an issue impacting some Forza Horizon 6 players where game save progress may be lost or reset," a statement from Playground's support team indicated. Players experiencing save loss were encouraged to file a ticket on the Forza Support website on the same day the issue occurred and to refrain from playing the game or creating new saves until their case could be reviewed.

For those on Windows PC playing through the Microsoft Store or Steam who have not yet encountered save data corruption, the current recommendation is to ensure the Microsoft Gaming Services app is updated to version 37.114.10001.0 or higher. This version check can be performed by navigating to system settings, then to apps and installed apps. Users should search for "Gaming Services," select the ellipsis icon, and open advanced options to view the installed version number. If an update is needed, players can initiate it through the Microsoft Store's downloads section by checking for updates and then proceeding to update Gaming Services.

Playground Games also suggests ensuring the game is exited properly through the in-game menu, rather than abruptly closing the application, especially during loading screens. Additionally, players should allow the game "at least a few minutes" to synchronize progress with the cloud after exiting before shutting down their PC. This measure aims to ensure that save mechanisms have sufficient time to complete their processes.
