Beast of Reincarnation, the soulslike action RPG developed by Game Freak, is set to receive its first patch within a week, aiming to address player feedback regarding story pacing. The developers announced on August 5th that a series of ongoing updates are planned for the game, which launched on August 4th. The initial patch will specifically focus on "story pacing improvements," alongside camera adjustments and an increase in text size. This move suggests a commitment to refining the narrative experience post-release.

Addressing Player Concerns

The need for story pacing improvements was noted in a review highlighting issues with the game's narrative delivery. "I’d forgive the more rigid formula if the game wasn’t also so intent on gating me behind pace-annihilating filler," the review states. The criticism pointed to lengthy, "sickly sweet and agonisingly long" cutscenes that interrupted gameplay, particularly those involving character interactions in the game's central hub, The Cleanse Walker.

Game Freak acknowledged these and other player opinions, stating they are "sincerely accepting everyone's opinions and are planning continuous updates." The planned patch is intended to begin this process of "ongoing adjustments" to the game's narrative structure.

Additional Patch Contents

Beyond narrative adjustments, the upcoming patch will also implement camera refinements and enlarge the in-game text. The developers are also changing the game's default setting from cinematic mode to performance mode. This shift is likely intended to improve the game's overall smoothness and performance for players who may not engage with graphical settings. Game Freak has indicated that further updates are planned, suggesting a long-term approach to enhancing Beast of Reincarnation based on player feedback.
