The Coalition has announced that player-versus-player (PvP) versus modes will be featured in the upcoming open beta for Gears of War: E-Day. This addition comes in response to player requests for hands-on time with the PvP component ahead of the game's release.

The open beta will commence on August 6th for players with early access who have pre-ordered the game. Initially, the first two days will focus solely on the Horde mode. PvP versus will be introduced on August 8th and will be available for the remainder of the early access period, which concludes at the end of that week.

A second wave of the beta will open to all players, regardless of pre-order status, starting on August 13th and running until August 17th. According to the official beta FAQ, both testing periods will offer the same content, indicating that PvP versus modes will also be available during this wider public test.

Participants in the beta can expect to unlock exclusive rewards for the full game, including various customization options. Early impressions of the Horde mode have already surfaced, highlighting its interesting gameplay while leaving some questions unanswered.
