Hoyoverse, the studio renowned for Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, has announced that its upcoming intergalactic life simulation game, Petit Planet, will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The free-to-play title is slated for release on PC, iOS, and Android on December 4, 2026.

The announcement was made during a special update on the game, which provided a closer look at some of the characters players can encounter, home decoration features, and mini-games available in Starsea. Players begin by managing their own planet, with the option to explore surrounding islands or visit the Galactic Bazaar, a central hub offering features like in-game auctions and community functions.

Pricing for the game was not detailed, but Hoyoverse confirmed that Petit Planet will be a free-to-play title. A preview of the game described it as a blend of Animal Crossing and The Little Prince, with an emphasis on clear progression and multiplayer elements. "In my short time of about five hours with a preview of the closed beta, Petit Planet offered a charming, 'The Little Prince'-themed take on Animal Crossing: New Horizons with an emphasis on clear progression and multiplayer," the preview noted. "While these are two things some seemed to crave and were left empty in ACNH, the Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail studio may offer an answer – with potential caveats."

The special update also highlighted opportunities for players to earn pre-registration rewards. Additionally, a "Launch a Planet" event is currently underway on the game's official website.
