Sony Santa Monica Studio has officially announced that God of War Laufey will launch on February 16, 2027. This revelation came during San Diego Comic-Con 2026, with game director Cory Barlog also confirming that the next God of War title will once again feature Kratos as the protagonist.

The upcoming title focusing on Faye's story is slated to ship with physical discs, a detail made notable by Sony's recent announcement of a halt in physical disc production starting in 2028. God of War Laufey was initially showcased with 20 minutes of gameplay during a June 2026 Sony State of Play broadcast, demonstrating a polished presentation that now aligns with its release date less than seven months away.

Barlog elaborated on the narrative connections between the games, stating that the events in the Faye-centric game serve as a continuation of previous storylines and a setup for future installments. He specifically mentioned a character named Phranque, who has been present since the series' inception, suggesting an expanded role and focus on world-building in the forthcoming titles. The nature of Phranque and their significance is expected to unfold throughout the future of the God of War series.

The February 2027 release window is shaping up to be a busy period for gamers, with God of War Laufey now joining other anticipated titles such as Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Persona 4 Revival, Fable, and Metro 2039, all of which are scheduled to release within a two-week span.
