Gran Turismo 7 is set to receive its next significant update, codenamed 'Spec IV,' which will reintroduce the fan-favorite Autumn Ring circuit after a 13-year hiatus. The update, slated for release in two parts before the end of 2026, will also feature the series debut of the real-life Japanese race circuit, Sportsland Sugo, alongside a dozen new cars and various other gameplay enhancements.
The first part of the 'Spec IV' update is scheduled for October. It will include Sportsland Sugo, a circuit located in Japan's Miyagi Prefecture known for hosting Super GT and Super Formula races, and six new vehicles. This initial release will also introduce a 'Vintage' section for cars not typically available as new purchases in Gran Turismo, a 'Car Concierge' function allowing players to order used and Legend cars, new driving challenges, an updated car viewer, and an increased Collector Level cap.
The second installment of the 'Spec IV' update will arrive in December, bringing the original Autumn Ring back to the series. This part of the update will feature another six new cars, a new 'Family' mode designed for less experienced players, a 'Shuffle Race' mode with randomized cars, online drift trials, and a new difficulty setting for the Power Pack.
Autumn Ring, a staple since the original Gran Turismo, was last featured in Gran Turismo 6 in 2013. The Gran Turismo 7 version of the circuit will retain its original layout while also offering a newly expanded track configuration.
These details were revealed during PlayStation's recent State of Play showcase. The showcase also featured updates on Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and a preview of Zach Cregger's forthcoming Resident Evil film. Two limited-edition DualSense controllers inspired by Grand Theft Auto VI were also announced.
