Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but the exact time players can begin their adventure will differ depending on their region and platform. PlayStation 5 users will encounter 15 distinct regional unlock times dictated by their PlayStation Store account region, not their physical location.

Research by GTA fansite GTAVice.net indicates that these unlock times span a 19-hour window. The earliest access begins at 11 a.m. UTC on November 18, with the latest unlock occurring at 6 a.m. UTC on November 19. New Zealand will be the first region to access the game at midnight NZDT on November 19, while Mexico and several Central American countries will be among the last, with access at midnight CST on November 20.

It has been noted that not all PlayStation Store pages display these specific release timestamps. Some regions, including Bahrain, China, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, and Qatar, lack this information, while others, such as The Philippines, Russia, Serbia, and Vietnam, redirect to different country stores. Importantly, if a digital copy was pre-ordered through a specific regional store, the unlock time will align with that store's schedule, regardless of the buyer's current location. This regional restriction also applies to physical "code-in-a-box" versions, with warnings issued by retailers about region-locked codes and subsequent clarification from Rockstar Games on which countries are affected.

Xbox Series X/S players, however, have a potential workaround. The Xbox platform allows users to change their console's region through the system menu, a feature that is not tied to specific game regions. This functionality enables players to employ the same method used for early access to other titles, such as Call of Duty games, by switching their console's region to New Zealand. Doing so would permit Xbox owners to play Grand Theft Auto 6 as soon as it becomes available in that territory, effectively bypassing the staggered global release schedule.
