Grand Theft Auto VI will feature a variety of interactive elements, including the ability to pet dogs and, in a particularly outlandish turn, collect and throw dog feces at non-player characters. This detail comes from YouTuber TGG, who received a hands-off preview and interviewed Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson.

According to Nelson, players can observe NPCs walking their dogs, and if the dog defecates, the player can wait for the owner to bag the waste. Subsequently, the player can target the NPC, causing them to drop the bag of poop, which can then be picked up and thrown at other characters. This mechanic is part of a larger system designed to enhance the game's interactive elements and criminal fantasies.

Beyond the more visceral interactions, players will also be able to pet dogs encountered in the game world. While a trailer suggested that the game's protagonists, Lucia and Jason, may own a dog, it's also hinted that dogs might possess an unusual ability to predict lottery numbers. Other interactions with dogs include the option to "scold" them, though the utility of this action remains unclear.

The ability to interact with mundane items like apple cores, which can be discarded, and the aforementioned dog poop mechanic, contribute to a system that influences player actions. This system is described not as a traditional morality system, but rather as an encouragement for players to adopt behaviors suited to a criminal lifestyle, such as maintaining stealth and avoiding unnecessary harm to innocent bystanders. These interactions, along with other new details about the game, were revealed following the release of a 26-minute trailer and hands-off previews.
