Following the release of an extended gameplay preview for Grand Theft Auto VI, players have begun scrutinizing the footage, with a notable portion of the online discussion focusing on the voice acting of Jason Duval, one of the game's two protagonists. A recurring sentiment on social media centers on the perceived difficulty in understanding some of Jason's dialogue, leading to comparisons with Tom Hardy's heavily modified voice performance as Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises."
It remains unclear if Rockstar Games intends to adjust Jason's vocal delivery to improve clarity, a measure that director Christopher Nolan implemented for Bane in the theatrical cut of his film. However, the current online discourse suggests a general preference among players for more discernible speech from the character.
Beyond concerns about Jason's voice, other elements revealed in the preview have garnered more positive reactions. These include the ability for players to interact with dogs, the return of the six-star wanted level system, and details regarding player character switching. Rockstar recently clarified that players can alternate control between Jason and his partner, Lucia Caminos.
Previously, Rockstar had addressed the significant GTA VI leaks that occurred some time ago, describing them as "heartbreaking for our team." The studio had previously identified and pursued legal action against an individual responsible for an earlier leak. The identity of the leaker whose information surfaced more recently is currently unknown.
Grand Theft Auto VI is slated for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19.
