Developer Green Suits is crafting a unique gaming experience that fuses surreal platforming, JRPG elements, and a distinct "drama-based combat system." Described as a blend of surreal architecture reminiscent of M.C. Escher's work and paranormal investigation, the game puts players in the role of a newly appointed supervising agent of the Paranormal Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Players will lead a team of paraphysicists, mediums, and psychics to combat ancient demons, destructive cults, and extradimensional colonizers. The game's combat system appears to incorporate unconventional actions such as "joke," "slap," "hide," "examine," and "supervise," alongside traditional combat options. The trailer suggests players can investigate enemy actions, predict their next moves, or resort to direct confrontation.
The developers highlight the platforming mechanics, which are designed to be engaging within the game's "Escher's architecture." Visually, Green Suits adopts a distinctive and unconventional art style, with characters that are distinguishable despite their relatively simple designs and environments filled with "weird nonsense."
While the game includes some pop culture references, including nods to "Twin Peaks," "Chainsaw Man," and a specific yellow pocket monster, its overall aesthetic and gameplay combination aim for a unique player experience. Green Suits is slated for a demo release followed by a full launch planned for September 2027. The game is currently available to wishlist on Steam.
