The recent 27-minute gameplay showcase for Grand Theft Auto VI, titled "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look," has achieved significant viewership, topping Netflix's English film charts in 87 out of 93 tracked countries. The extended trailer, which premiered on Netflix, has also garnered over 17 million views on YouTube since its upload. This strong performance reflects the immense anticipation for the game, which was officially revealed after more than a decade since its predecessor.

The extended showcase provided fans with an in-depth view of the game's world and mechanics. Rockstar confirmed that the playable map in GTA 6 will be approximately three times larger than that of Red Dead Redemption 2, encompassing not only the urban environment of Vice City but also surrounding beaches, rural areas, and a Florida-inspired wilderness teeming with wildlife.

Emphasis has been placed on realism and environmental detail. The game features clothing that reacts dynamically to character movement, visible sweat, and realistic hair strands. Environmental destruction is also a notable addition, with characters seen crashing through walls and debris reacting to in-game chaos. The interplay between protagonists Jason and Lucia was also highlighted. While players can switch between them, similar to GTA 5, certain story sequences will be character-locked. The developers are also focusing on the relationship between the two characters, offering options for players to develop a romantic connection or maintain a platonic one. Jason and Lucia in GTA 6

Beyond the core gameplay elements, the showcase revealed a variety of activities and eccentricities characteristic of the Grand Theft Auto series, including beach activities, various vehicles like scooters and sports cars, skydiving, and encounters with unique Vice City residents. Players can even interact with animals, such as hugging a dog.

Despite the extensive footage and details revealed, Rockstar has yet to officially announce plans for an online component for Grand Theft Auto VI, a significant omission given the immense success of Grand Theft Auto Online. Grand Theft Auto 6 is slated for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. A PC version has not yet been announced.
