Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on November 19, and a recent survey indicates a strong desire among players for an online component, a feature that Rockstar Games has yet to officially confirm for the title. Research firm Piper Sandler polled 9,000 teenagers, with 90% expressing an intention to play GTA Online. While it would be surprising if GTA 6 ultimately lacks an online mode, Rockstar has not provided details about its multiplayer plans.

Product listings from retailers currently describe GTA 6 as a "single-player experience," suggesting it's not a detail the company is deliberately withholding. The survey also found that 40% of respondents plan to make in-game purchases. Among those who own a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, 70% indicated they intend to buy GTA 6, with 55% planning an immediate purchase and 15% willing to wait several months.

This follows a report from Circana, which found that nearly one in three U.S. console and PC gamers plan to purchase GTA 6, marking the highest purchase intent Circana has ever recorded. Analyst James Callahan has reiterated a $290 price target on Take-Two Interactive's stock. Following a significant downturn in 2026, Take-Two's stock is currently trading around $210 per share after a rally on November 4. It remains to be seen how Rockstar will manage its existing GTA Online service following the release of GTA 6, a situation that could potentially lead to player dissatisfaction regardless of the outcome. Grand Theft Auto VI will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S starting November 19. Preloading begins on November 10, with players in the U.S. among the last globally to gain access to the game.
