The immense anticipation for Rockstar Games' upcoming title, Grand Theft Auto 6, is reportedly translating into significant pre-launch sales figures. Market intelligence firm Sensor Tower estimates that the game has sold approximately 7.71 million copies before its official release on November 19. This surge in pre-orders has reportedly generated an estimated $751 million in revenue.

According to Sensor Tower's data, PlayStation accounts for 74% of these pre-launch sales, with Xbox comprising the remaining 26%. While Rockstar Games has not yet officially confirmed these preorder numbers, the estimates offer a perspective on the considerable demand for GTA 6.

Pre-Launch Success Amidst 2026's Top Titles

These pre-launch sales figures place GTA 6 in contention with some of the year's biggest gaming releases, despite its impending launch. Year-to-date sales rankings from Circana include major titles such as NBA 2K27, Resident Evil: Requiem, 007 First Light, MLB: The Show 26, Crimson Desert, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. While Circana's chart does not detail total units sold, making direct comparisons difficult, it indicates the competitive landscape into which GTA 6 is launching.

For context, Resident Evil Requiem has reportedly sold 8.5 million copies. If Sensor Tower's estimates for GTA 6 are accurate, the title is on track to become one of the year's top sellers before it's even playable. The game is scheduled to be released on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
