A recent survey of 1,300 American gamers indicates a striking willingness among some players to make significant personal sacrifices for early access to Grand Theft Auto 6. The poll, conducted by Unwind Media, found that 7% of respondents would be willing to give up their pet for a month if it meant playing the highly anticipated game a week before its official release.
This trend was even more pronounced among players who had already pre-ordered GTA 6, with 13% of this group expressing the same sentiment. Beyond pets, the survey also revealed that 21% of all surveyed fans would willingly forgo intimacy for a week of early gameplay. Within this group, women were slightly more likely than men to make this trade, with 25% of female respondents and 19% of male respondents agreeing.
However, the survey also highlighted a more positive social aspect, with over half of all participants (53%) planning to play the game with their partner. This desire for shared gameplay was notably higher among women, with 71% expressing enthusiasm compared to 39% of men.
Despite some concerns about the game's relationship mechanics, with a small percentage (8%) feeling it constituted "cheating," the overall sentiment suggests a strong desire for shared experiences around GTA 6. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
