Despite Harrison Ford's iconic presence in the original Blade Runner and its sequel Blade Runner 2049, the actor will not feature in the forthcoming Prime Video series, Blade Runner 2099. Creator and showrunner Silka Luisa confirmed this in a recent interview with Polygon, stating her desire for transparency with fans.

"Harrison Ford is not in the show," Luisa told Polygon. "I feel like, as a Blade Runner fan, I would want to know that, so I'm just going to be full disclosure."

The Blade Runner 2099 series is set to expand the franchise's universe, taking place 50 years after Blade Runner 2049 and 80 years after the original film. The narrative will explore a future Los Angeles where Replicants have gained control, relegating humanity to a subordinate status. The plot follows two detectives on the hunt for a group of criminal Replicants.

Michell Yeoh is set to star as Olwen, a Replicant Blade Runner nearing the end of her synthetic lifespan. She will be partnered with Cora, a human played by Hunter Schafer who must conceal her identity to survive in this society. The series also features Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, and Maurizio Lombardi.

Prime Video has slated all eight episodes of Blade Runner 2099 for release on November 25, 2026.
