Filming has commenced for the second season of HBO's Harry Potter television series, which will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The production has added three new actors to its cast: Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley, Jasper Ambrose as Colin Creevey, and Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle.
Rafe Spall, known for his roles in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, will portray Arthur Weasley, the father of Ginny and Ron. Mark Williams previously played this character in the film adaptations.
Jasper Ambrose will take on the role of Colin Creevey, a Hogwarts student and admirer of Harry Potter. Ambrose's previous work includes a voice role in The Sheep Detectives. Hugh Mitchell portrayed Creevey in the films.
Molly Hewitt-Richards joins the cast as Moaning Myrtle. This character plays a significant role in Chamber of Secrets, haunting the bathroom where she died in the 1940s after being killed by the Basilisk. Her actions are instrumental in helping Harry and Ron discover the titular Chamber. Hewitt-Richards has appeared in British dramas such as Code of Silence and Casualty, succeeding Shirley Henderson, who voiced Moaning Myrtle in the film series.
The new Harry Potter series features a fresh ensemble cast. Dominic McLaughlin stars as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Supporting roles include John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Daniel Rigby and Bel Powley portray Vernon and Petunia Dursley, respectively, with Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy and Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick.
The first season, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, is scheduled to premiere on HBO on December 25.
