Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West were temporarily removed from the Steam store in the UK, a sudden delisting that Sony has stated they are actively addressing. While players in the UK who already own copies of these games can still access them via their Steam libraries, new purchases are not possible. Affected listings display the message "An error was encountered while processing your request: This item is currently unavailable in your region."
A spokesperson for Sony confirmed awareness of the issue, stating, "We are aware of an issue affecting the availability of select titles on Steam in the UK. We are working with Valve to address the issue. We apologise for the inconvenience." This suggests the games are expected to return to the storefront soon.
According to SteamDB, the United Kingdom, Great Britain, and the Isle of Man were added to a list of regions where these titles cannot be purchased. These changes were implemented on September 16th.
The reason for this unintentional-seeming unavailability remains unclear. Previously, Sony has restricted PC game releases to regions where its PlayStation Network service operates, often necessitating a PSN account link. This policy affected Marvel's Midnight Suns and notably caused significant backlash for Helldivers 2 in 2024. However, neither of those situations involved delisting games in the UK, where PSN is readily available.
