Developer Arrowhead Studios is set to release a new Legendary Warbond for Helldivers 2 on August 12, introducing content inspired by Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe. This crossover event will bring Warhammer 40,000 weaponry and armor to the popular cooperative shooter, allowing players to engage Super Earth's enemies with grimdark additions.

The Warbond focuses on the Astra Militarum faction, featuring two new armor sets: the heavy-class Demo Trooper and the medium-class Sharpshooter. Both sets come with the True Grit passive, which enhances ergonomics and speeds up the reload process for Stratagem weapons. While these sets provide a new aesthetic and tactical advantage, the Warbond notably omits some of the most recognizable weaponry from the Warhammer 40,000 setting, such as the bolter and chainsword typically wielded by Space Marines. There are also no melee weapons included, a surprising omission given the franchise's emphasis on close-quarters combat.

New armaments joining the game include the Meltagun, a potent support weapon described as a more powerful flamethrower variant. Players will also gain access to Meltamines, a Bolt Pistol sidearm, and a Lasgun Marksman Rifle as a primary weapon. The Meltagun and Meltamines appear suited for dealing with vehicles and heavily armored foes, while the Hot Shot Marksman rifle has demonstrated the ability to penetrate multiple enemies in the reveal trailer. Despite the absence of certain iconic weapons, the new gear is expected to provide players with effective tools for combating the game's Automatons and Terminids. Arrowhead Studios may introduce further Warhammer 40,000 content in future Warbonds, but for now, players will utilize the currently available grimdark arsenal in their fight for Super Earth.
