Hololive Dreams, a new rhythm game available for free on Steam, features characters and interactions that are remarkably true to their virtual personas due to significant creator involvement. Shiori Novella, a Hololive vtuber talent, stated in an interview with PC Gamer that the development team granted the talents "tons of involvement with the script and dialogue." This allowed for content tailored to their preferences, including lines for character greetings and special collectible cards.
Novella described her personal experience with the game's development, noting that she provided lines for character greetings, SSR cards, and even "GRUNTING!" She elaborated on the process, saying, "I made a lot of squeaks, giggles, and other noises which was kind of funny to do without context." The game also features numerous songs, including covers of tracks by artists like Babymetal, and promises more content in the future. Notable hits such as Hoshimachi Suisei's "Stellar Stellar," which gained significant attention after a performance on The First Take, are included.

Hololive Dreams offers a comprehensive experience, described as the closest thing to a virtual theme park for fans of the agency, with over 150 songs available at launch. Players can also observe mini vtuber avatars interacting within the island theme park setting, reminiscent of games like Tomodachi Life. These interactions have led to numerous viral clips showcasing bizarre and humorous scenarios.
This release marks a significant step for Hololive's ventures into game publishing. While the agency has previously licensed indie projects like the Vampire Survivors-inspired Holocure, Hololive Dreams is a directly published title. With Hololive's parent company, Cover Corp, expanding its presence in the US, it suggests a potential increase in the variety of official games from the agency in the coming years.
Novella, who has prior experience writing for a Hololive visual novel, expressed enthusiasm for future game development projects. She hinted at a new project in a similar vein that is planned for release around her debut anniversary stream, though details remain undisclosed.
