id Software was reportedly considering multiple new game concepts, including a "John Wick"-inspired title and a new entry in the Perfect Dark series, prior to recent layoffs that have impacted more than half of its workforce. According to a report from GamesBeat, 92 of id Software's 185 full-time employees were let go, casting uncertainty over the future of various projects.

Sources indicate that among the potential future projects was a co-op and multiplayer Doom game that would have reintroduced weaponry from earlier titles in the franchise. The studio also apparently explored reviving the Perfect Dark IP, which became available following Xbox's decision to shut down developer The Initiative and cancel its Perfect Dark reboot.

Further details emerged regarding a codenamed project known as Fury. This game was envisioned by id Software as an opportunity to move beyond the Doom franchise, with plans for a noir sci-fi aesthetic incorporating elements of "Chicago and Louisiana gangsters." The gameplay was intended to blend martial arts with gunplay, drawing inspiration from the John Wick films, and was being considered for Project Helix, the codename for the next-generation Xbox.

Another concept reportedly discussed was a survival game inspired by the television series Westworld, though details on this project remain scarce. It is currently unclear whether any of these ambitious concepts will proceed given the reduced size of the studio.

The report also notes that id Software's future may involve supporting other Xbox Game Studios titles, such as The Elder Scrolls 6, Wolfenstein 3, and Marvel's Blade. This situation echoes a similar event at Turn 10 Studios, the developer behind Forza Motorsport, which also experienced significant layoffs last year, raising questions about the future of its franchise.
