Inde Navarrette, known for her role in "Obsession," is preparing to embody Rogue in Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men film, slated for a May 5, 2028 release. Navarrette has outlined her strategy for capturing the iconic Southern accent associated with the mutant character.

The voice of Rogue, particularly the Southern drawl popularized by Lenore Zann in the original X-Men animated series, is a key element of the character's identity. Navarrette, despite not having a natural Southern accent, has indicated that she has a clear vision for Rogue's voice.

Navarrette shared that her upbringing in Texas provides a foundational connection to the accent. "I grew up in Texas for a good majority of my life," she explained, noting her particular fondness for "old Southern women." This personal history, especially her ties to Corpus Christi, informs her approach.

"But, specifically, Mississippi – Rogue is from Mississippi," Navarrette stated, highlighting her intention to immerse herself in the character's native environment to ensure an authentic portrayal. "So, I really just want to go there. I wanna really do her justice."

Navarrette joins a growing ensemble cast for the X-Men reboot. Previously confirmed actors include Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Maya Boyd as Storm, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost. Asa Germann is also set to play Angel.

Director Jake Schreier has teased that the film will offer a "new spin" on the X-Men, drawing inspiration from various comic book sources. Reports suggest Navarrette's commitment to the role is significant, as she reportedly passed on an opportunity to appear in "Heat 2" to participate in the X-Men project.
