Jackbox Games is transforming one of its most popular party game modes, Fakin' It, into a standalone title called Fakin' It XL. The game, originally featured in Jackbox Party Pack 3, will be available on November 12, 2026. This move follows the successful standalone release of Trivia Murder Party and aims to capitalize on the enduring popularity of social deduction games.

First introduced in 2016, Fakin' It challenges players to answer prompts with gestures or text, with one player secretly designated as the "faker" who must deceive their friends into believing they are providing genuine responses. The game's success is attributed to its ability to reveal unexpected and humorous insights into players' personalities.

Fakin' It XL will introduce several enhancements, particularly geared towards improving remote play. Brooke Hofer, Jackbox Games' Chief Marketing Officer, explained that each player will have an avatar that visually represents their reactions, aiding remote players in interpreting responses. "The best part of Fakin’ It is the unexpected and deeply silly things you learn about your fellow players along the way," Hofer stated. "The most brilliant rounds are when you can make a case for more than one person being the Faker. That means though, that someone else has a really surprising take that they have to defend."

Two new secret tasks are also being added to Fakin' It XL. Emojional Damage requires players to select an emoji that fits a given prompt, while the faker must invent a plausible but false explanation for their emoji choice. Thumb Luck presents players with opinion-based topics, where they must respond with a thumbs up or down. The faker, unaware of the actual topic, will need to justify their position, potentially leading to comical situations like defending a stance against "Dogs in Costumes."

Fakin' It XL will support up to eight players and is scheduled for release on November 12, 2026, for Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. A release on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 is planned for later this year.
