Jeremy Renner, who portrays Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has seemingly teased his potential return for the upcoming film "Avengers: Doomsday." This comes amid reports that a final round of reshoots for the movie is currently underway.

Renner posted a photo on Instagram featuring his Hawkeye costume accompanied by the character's theme music, a move interpreted by many as a direct hint at his involvement. The timing of this post is notable, following confirmation from "Avengers: Doomsday" cast member Winston Duke that additional photography for the film has begun.

With "Avengers: Doomsday" slated for release in December, any new material being filmed now must be integrated into the production on a tight schedule. It is suggested that Marvel has coordinated this additional filming with the production of "Avengers: Secret Wars," which is scheduled to commence principal photography in September 2027. This approach likely allows for the incorporation of shorter scenes or minor additions rather than significant plot alterations for "Doomsday."

Speculation from industry insiders indicates that these reshoots may be utilized to incorporate numerous cameos, with Hawkeye being a probable addition to that list. Renner last appeared as Hawkeye in his self-titled Disney+ series, where he mentored Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. Following a serious snowplough accident in January 2023, Renner has been in recovery.

Renner previously disclosed that he declined an offer for a second season of "Hawkeye" due to a pay dispute with Disney, stating that the proposed compensation was significantly less than his previous earnings for the first season, despite the increased workload. However, he expressed openness to reprising the role under different circumstances.

"Avengers: Doomsday" is scheduled to premiere on December 18. The film is anticipated to feature a vast ensemble cast. Pre-sale ticket demand for "Avengers: Doomsday" has reportedly exceeded that of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." Marvel has also released a list of 15 recommended movies and TV shows to watch in preparation for the film's release.
