The manga phenomenon Kagurabachi has officially entered the anime arena, with its first 20 minutes unveiled to fans at the Anime Expo as part of the Kagurabachi World Tour. This early screening offered a substantial glimpse into the highly anticipated adaptation of Takeru Hokazono's dark fantasy revenge tale, which is set to officially premiere in April 2027.

The premiere event also featured a panel with key creative figures, including Chihiro Rokuhira voice actor Taihi Kimura, manga editor Takuro Imamura, and anime producer Koichi Yasuda. This session provided behind-the-scenes insights ahead of the series' launch.

Kagurabachi centers on Chihiro Rokuhira, the son of a renowned swordsmith. Chihiro's life is irrevocably altered when his father is murdered and six mystical Enchanted Blades are stolen by the criminal organization Hishaku. Armed with Enten, the seventh and secret blade forged by his father, Chihiro embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance that escalates into a broader conflict for the fate of the blades themselves. The manga has garnered acclaim for its combination of supernatural swordplay, stylish action, and emotionally resonant storytelling, contributing to its rapid rise in popularity within Weekly Shonen Jump.

The Anime Expo presentation demonstrated how the manga's distinctive visual identity has been translated into animation. The initial 20 minutes of the first episode were described as breathtaking, featuring Chihiro in action sequences that faithfully capture the visceral swordplay beloved by fans. The pacing of this early segment was noted as stellar, with Episode 1 covering only a small portion of the manga's first chapter.

Series director Tetsuya Takeuchi's use of dramatic canted angles was highlighted for effectively conveying the series' atmosphere in an original manner. Complementing the visuals, Yutaka Yamada's score was praised for its deep, ethereal quality that intensifies during action sequences, while utilizing delicate piano and jazz undertones to enhance quieter moments. This combination is expected to make the anime a must-watch for both Kagurabachi devotees and the broader anime community.

Fans eager to witness Chihiro's journey and his Enten blade in action will have another opportunity to experience the Kagurabachi World Tour at Anime NYC in August. The series is confirmed to begin streaming on Crunchyroll in April 2027.
