Speculation surrounding new details for Kingdom Hearts 4 is mounting as Disney has confirmed the lineup for its upcoming panel at the D23 fan convention. The "DEEP DIVE into KINGDOM HEARTS" panel is scheduled to stream on August 15 at 4:30 p.m. PT / 7:30 p.m. ET, with an earlier start on August 16 at 12:30 a.m. UK time.
While Disney has described the panel as offering a "behind-the-scenes look at the making of the games," the attendees are what have particularly ignited fan excitement for potential Kingdom Hearts 4 announcements. The panel is set to feature Nana Gadd from Disney & Pixar Games, Tai Yasue from Square Enix, Haley Joel Osment (the voice of Sora), David Gallagher (the voice of Riku), and Renée Johnson, who handles Disney character voices.
The presence of Yasue, who is reportedly a co-director for Kingdom Hearts 4, is a significant indicator for fans hoping for updates on the sequel. Kingdom Hearts 4 was previously revealed in June 2026 with a gameplay trailer during a Nintendo Direct presentation. The trailer showed Sora preparing to wield the Keyblade once more in the unfamiliar city of Quadratum.
Square Enix has stated that Kingdom Hearts 4 will launch simultaneously on PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, in addition to the Nintendo Switch 2. An official description notes that the game will introduce players to new characters Sora will encounter in Quadratum as he journeys through realms and awakens new powers for his next chapter.
Kingdom Hearts 4 was initially announced at the franchise's 20th anniversary event in 2022. The first gameplay segment featured Sora battling a colossal Heartless in a distinctly urban environment, a departure from the typical dreamlike settings associated with the series. Since that initial reveal, details have been scarce, and no release date or window has been provided, leaving fans eager for any information at the D23 event.
