Disney and Square Enix have unveiled an extended gameplay trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 during the Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts panel at D23 2026. The trailer provided the first look at King Mickey, Donald Duck, and Goofy as playable characters within the upcoming title. The surprise appearance of these characters follows the earlier revelation of Sora in a world inspired by Pixar's Coco.

Gameplay footage for Donald and Goofy appears to align with the established playstyle for Sora, featuring abilities and cooperative attacks against Heartless enemies. A segment in the trailer also showed the pair sledding through the Underworld.

King Mickey's gameplay sequence offered a unique presentation, transitioning from a third-person perspective to origami-like visuals with both 2D and 3D gameplay segments. This style has been noted as being heavily inspired by Nintendo's Paper Mario series, though the duration of these sections remains to be seen.

The trailer also featured a surprise appearance from Riku in its closing moments. Kingdom Hearts 4 is currently on track for its late 2027 release window. Fans can find additional details on other announcements from the panel through related coverage.
