Nintendo has officially revealed Kirby and the World Beyond, showcasing the pink puffball's next 3D adventure in a gameplay trailer during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation. The game is slated for release in spring 2027 on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

This new entry promises a more open experience than previous Kirby titles, inviting players to freely explore an expansive world. As is tradition, Kirby will be able to utilize his signature Copy Abilities to overcome challenges and defeat enemies. Nintendo has confirmed that the game will encourage creative use of these abilities as players uncover the mysteries of the World Beyond.

Kirby and the World Beyond's spring 2027 launch window coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Kirby franchise. Details regarding further anniversary celebrations or more in-depth information about the game are expected to be shared at a later date, according to Nintendo's Yoshiaki Koizumi.

The last mainline Kirby installment, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, launched for the original Nintendo Switch in early 2022. Since then, the franchise has seen spin-offs like Kirby Air Riders in 2025 and remakes such as Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe in 2023.

The announcement has already sparked fan discussions online, with some players drawing comparisons between the game's world-hopping premise and the 1998 film The Truman Show due to the visual presentation in the reveal trailer.
