Konami is reportedly aiming for annual releases of new Silent Hill games, with producer Motoi Okamoto stating the company is seeking to "hopefully, have an annual release of new games" in the acclaimed horror series. This ambition comes as Konami explores "fresh takes" to prevent the franchise from stagnating.
Okamoto confirmed that several unannounced Silent Hill projects are currently in development, indicating a significant commitment to revitalizing the series. "There are still many projects that are still [in] the works and very unannounced titles," he said in an interview at Gamescom 2026. "But there are still many projects that we are currently exploring and working on as we speak." He added that Konami intends to offer players "more experiences coming up, and many types of games that, we believe, will be able to provide positive kinds of surprises."
This strategy aligns with statements made by Konami president Hideki Hayakawa, who previously indicated the company's intent to "reboot" its iconic intellectual properties, including Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and Castlevania. Hayakawa clarified that "rebooting" in this context means reinvigorating franchises with new titles rather than remaking older ones. He noted Konami’s philosophy of releasing games across multiple devices as long as there is customer demand, allowing the company to pursue multiple IPs simultaneously.
The Silent Hill franchise has seen recent activity with the Silent Hill 2 Remake and the upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall, which is set to release on September 22. Silent Hill f, another upcoming title, represents a departure from the series' traditional American settings by taking place in 1960s Japan, fitting Konami's goal of exploring new narrative avenues. The company is actively developing these and other titles, including Castlevania, to capitalize on their global fanbases.
