Konami aims to release new Silent Hill games on an annual basis, according to franchise producer Motoi Okamoto. This strategy follows a recent resurgence for the horror series, which has seen two new games, a remake, the controversial "Ascension" experience, and a film released in the past three years, after a decade-long hiatus.
While no specific unannounced titles were detailed, Okamoto stated that "many projects are still under the works and very unannounced titles." The producer also indicated a deliberate shift away from the series' typical American settings. "If we stay laser-focused on the same American setting, that would exhaust [narrative] possibilities, and also potentially cause fatigue for the playerbase," Okamoto explained. This move allows developers more freedom to explore diverse environments and storytelling approaches.
Future Silent Hill titles will also encompass "many types of games" and "more experiences," suggesting Konami's interest in expanding the franchise's multimedia presence beyond traditional video games. The upcoming title, Silent Hill: Townfall, is slated for release next month, with further details on other ongoing projects anticipated in the future.
