Riot Games' collectible card game, League of Legends: Riftbound, is preparing to launch its fourth booster set, Vendetta. This new set will introduce additional champions from the popular MOBA into the card game, including an exclusive reveal of the rare champion unit, Gangplank. Vendetta is scheduled for an English release on July 31, with pre-release events beginning July 24 at local game stores.
Gangplank arrives as a six-cost, six-might card. His signature ability, 'Empower,' when activated, transforms him into a resilient tank that resists common removal tactics. Spells or abilities designed to stun, reduce his might, or bounce him back to hand are nullified. Instead of being removed, these effects grant Gangplank +3 might, effectively absorbing and negating the disruption.
As a Body (Orange) card, Gangplank benefits from mechanics that maintain his presence on the battlefield. His ability to nullify specific effects, combined with the inherent strengths of his rune color, positions him as a potential counter to certain deck archetypes if not dealt with promptly. The set Vendetta also promises new mechanics alongside new champions, expanding the strategic depth of Riftbound.
