Gameplay footage from a cancelled open-world Iron Man game developed by Avalanche Studios has emerged online. The collection of videos, reportedly spanning an hour, showcases the unannounced project that was in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 around 2012.

The footage appeared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit and is said to originate from the same source that previously shared files related to Grand Theft Auto V and the cancelled Agent game. The leaked material is believed to be from a build running on a PS3 development kit, displaying unpolished assets and the typical state of pre-release game builds.

Developmental similarities to Avalanche's Just Cause series are apparent in the leaked gameplay, particularly in the fluidity of character movement and the overall pace of the game. The videos also feature flying sequences and hand-to-hand combat that bear resemblance to Iron Man's fighting style in Marvel's Avengers, with both seemingly drawing inspiration from the combat rhythm established in the Batman Arkham games.

One notable segment appears to be an E3 demo, presenting more curated gameplay designed to highlight the game's potential. The existence of this Iron Man title was previously only known through a 2022 interview with former Avalanche studio head Christofer Sundberg. He stated the project was canceled due to Disney's decision to shorten its development schedule by one year, a move Sundberg claimed would have been detrimental to the studio's resources.

While this particular Iron Man game did not come to fruition, the leaks serve as a reminder of the character's potential in an action game format. EA's Motive Studio is currently developing a separate single-player Iron Man game.
