A recently surfaced LEGO leak indicates the impending release of a $200 Donkey Kong arcade cabinet set. Reports suggest the detailed model will launch on August 1.
The leaked image, shared on Reddit, depicts the arcade machine with figures representing Donkey Kong, Jumpman (later known as Mario), and Princess Peach in their classic positions. The set appears to include an arcade stick and several buttons at the base, with "DONKEY KONG" lettering adorning the top. Designed for ages 18 and up, the set comprises 1,367 pieces.
While official details are scarce, the design suggests potential interactivity, possibly mirroring features found in previous LEGO Super Mario sets where mechanical elements allowed for gameplay simulation. This could involve using dials or buttons to control Jumpman's movements and interact with game elements like rolling barrels.
This Donkey Kong set is part of a broader slate of LEGO and Nintendo collaborations. In October, a new wave of LEGO Pokémon sets is scheduled to arrive, featuring builds of Pokémon such as Munchlax, Arcanine, and Rayquaza. Notably, a Poké Ball set will include minifigures of Red and Professor Oak.
Additionally, LEGO is reportedly preparing to enter the simulation game market with a LEGO version of Cities: Skylines, following a recent ratings board filing. Official confirmation for this set has not yet been provided.
