NOUGH Studio, the internal team at Neowiz behind the successful Souls-like game Lies of P, has released a documentary that delves into their development process and hints at their upcoming project. The studio, whose name Nough is a deliberate misspelling of 'enough' to signify a constant drive for improvement, emphasized a 'games by gamers' culture.

According to NOUGH Studio director Choi Jiwon, the team approaches game development from a player's perspective. "As a gamer myself, I know they can tell when a game has been made with real dedication," Choi stated in the documentary. "So whenever we're developing a game, we always approach it as players first. We are gamers before we are developers. So we keep testing and refining without compromise until everyone on the team is genuinely satisfied with what we’ve made."

This iterative feedback loop is central to their process, with the entire development team and director participating in playtesting sessions to validate game structure. This dedication, the studio believes, allows them to achieve a high level of polish and a more satisfying final product for players.

Looking ahead, Choi Jiwon teased that NOUGH Studio's next unannounced game is aiming to be "really fun and emotionally moving." The team is reportedly investing significant effort into this new project, with Choi promising players that they "won't be disappointed." While a sequel to Lies of P has been confirmed and is reportedly in the vertical slice stage, this tease suggests a potentially separate or expanded focus for the studio's future endeavors.

Lies of P itself received a three-star review from Eurogamer, which noted its strong foundations in tone and combat mechanics but suggested it was unlikely to surpass its inspirations. Neowiz has expressed interest in expanding the Lies of P IP into a franchise, but details regarding NOUGH Studio's immediate next steps remain under wraps, save for this intriguing hint at a future title.
