An update arriving today for Mario Kart World will bring a selection of classic tracks from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System to the game, along with new Knockout Tour courses, Nintendo announced during its September 2026 Nintendo Direct presentation.
Ten classic courses from Super Mario Kart have been integrated into the game's VS Race mode. These returning tracks, including Choco Island, Vanilla Lake, and Ghost Valley, feature the original "? Panels" for item acquisition, mirroring the experience of the 1992 Super NES title. The update also introduces two new Knockout Tour routes: Propeller Rally and Turnip Rally.
While the update does not include new playable characters or cosmetic outfits, it offers a free addition of classic content for players of Mario Kart World, which launched on the Nintendo Switch 2 last summer. The update also adds a Spectator Mode for online and LAN Play sessions with friends.
This release follows a separate Zelda Direct presentation held earlier in the week, as Nintendo continues its series of Direct showcases for the month.
