Marvel Comics has announced a new Indiana Jones comic series, titled Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium, set to launch in December 2026. The news was revealed during the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. This five-issue limited series will serve as a direct follow-up to the events of the original 1981 film, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Written by Jason Aaron, known for his work on Marvel's Star Wars series, and illustrated by Aaron Kuder, who has previously worked on Daredevil, the series promises to kick off a new era of Indiana Jones storytelling from Marvel. The first issue will feature cover art by Kuder, Bryan Hitch, and Alex Ross.
The official description for Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium #1 reveals that in the aftermath of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones's most notorious villains are seeking a new source of power. This power has reportedly fallen into the hands of his former companion, Marion Ravenwood. The story will follow Indiana Jones on a globe-trotting quest to find a biblical weapon, testing his archaeological skills and his skepticism of the supernatural.
This new comic venture comes more than a decade after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm. Despite the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in 2023, Marvel had not previously published new Indiana Jones comics. The announcement suggests that Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium is the first step in Marvel's broader plans for the franchise.
