Marvel Comics is launching a new five-issue limited series titled "Jean Grey," set to debut on November 25, 2026. This announcement arrives hot on the heels of Marvel Cinematic Universe casting news, which confirmed Sadie Sink will portray Jean Grey in upcoming MCU projects, including "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."
The new comic series will be penned by Jed MacKay, who has been writing the main X-Men book since the "From the Ashes" relaunch, and illustrated by Rogê Antônio, known for his work on the recent "Cyclops" limited series and briefly on "X-Men Red."
MacKay commented on the timing of the series, noting that it capitalizes on Jean Grey's increased public visibility due to her MCU introduction. He stated that post-DNX event, the X-Men will find themselves in a position where they need Jean, and she will similarly need them. This narrative dovetails with her heightened presence in popular culture.
A significant focus of the series will be the relationship between Jean Grey and Scott Summers (Cyclops). Despite their marriage, Jean's past cosmic adventures have often kept them apart. MacKay highlighted their differing approaches, describing Scott as someone who "builds fortresses" and Jean as someone who "builds bridges." In addition to her solo series, Jean Grey will also feature more prominently in MacKay's ongoing "X-Men" title, where Cyclops currently serves as team leader.
This marks Jean Grey's second comic series in recent memory. Prior to this, Stephanie Phillips wrote the fifteen-issue ongoing series "Phoenix," which saw Jean exploring the galaxy and reconnecting with her sister, Sara Grey. Jean also recently returned to Earth in "X-Men Annual #1."
