NetEase Games has introduced a new swimsuit cosmetic for Captain America in its hero shooter, Marvel Rivals, as part of its 4th of July celebrations. The "Seaside Sentinel" outfit, which features Captain America in beachwear, includes an inflatable ducky shield and has drawn considerable attention from the game's player base.
The official description for the skin states, "The beach crew voted Captain America should man the grill, just like the red, white, and blue-blooded specimen of American masculinity people believe he is. Unfortunately, his skills on the grill were not nearly as calculated as his shield throws." This humorous take, paired with the outfit's design, has led to widespread discussion across social media platforms.
Many players initially questioned the authenticity of the skin, with some speculating that it was a fan-made mod due to its distinctive appearance, which has been compared to certain comic art styles. However, IGN has confirmed that the "Seaside Sentinel" outfit and its associated jiggle physics are official content available for purchase in the Marvel Rivals store.
The release has prompted reactions from players on platforms like Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), with comments ranging from humorous observations about "America's ass" to expressions of surprise and approval. This follows a trend in Marvel Rivals where several characters have received revealing swimwear cosmetics, including Loki and White Fox.
Marvel Rivals is available on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Other characters such as Daredevil and Black Widow have also received similar swimsuit skins.
