Marvel Comics is set to explore multiversal chaos with a new limited series titled "Incursions," slated to launch in November. This five-issue collection of one-shots serves as a prelude to the upcoming cinematic events "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Secret Wars," delving into the "Time Runs Out" storyline where different universes across the Marvel multiverse collided.
X-Men Confrontation in First Issue
The series kicks off with "X-Men: Incursions" #1 on November 18, written by Alex Paknadel and illustrated by Jim Towe. This inaugural issue will pit the universe of the mutant-ascendant House of M against that of the Days of Future Past, with the fate of both universes hanging in the balance and Kate Pryde tasked with making a devastating choice. The issue will feature variant covers from "Secret Wars" artist Esad Ribić and "Ultimates" artist Bryan Hitch.
Expanding the Multiversal Scope
Following the X-Men's plight, the "Incursions" series will continue in December with "Spider-Man: Incursions" #1 and "Fantastic Four: Incursions" #1. The series will then conclude in January with "X-Men '92: Incursions" #1 and "Avengers: Incursions" #1. Marvel has indicated that these one-shots will traverse various classic comic eras, alternate timelines, and beloved media adaptations, suggesting a wide-ranging exploration of the Marvel multiverse. A variant cover for "Incursions" #1 by Bryan Hitch even features a rendition of Rogue from the animated series "X-Men: Evolution," hinting at the diverse characters and realities that may appear throughout the series.
The "Incursions" series draws heavily from the 2015 "Secret Wars" comic event, which depicted numerous universes colliding and being destroyed. This new series promises to revisit the catastrophic events that immediately preceded that monumental storyline, offering a new perspective on the multiversal collapse that reshaped the Marvel universe. The upcoming films "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Secret Wars" are expected to adapt these large-scale comic events for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
