The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has assigned Marvel's Wolverine a Mature 17+ rating, detailing content that includes blood and gore, drug references, intense violence, strong language, and partial nudity. The game, developed by Insomniac Games, is set to release on PlayStation 5 on September 15.

According to the ESRB's description, players will experience "frenetic combat" from a third-person perspective, utilizing Wolverine's claws and rage modes for destructive attacks. The combat is characterized by frequent blood-splatter effects, sounds of pain, and instances of dismemberment and decapitation. Battlefields may be depicted with scattered torsos and limbs, and cutscenes can show characters tearing enemies apart or decapitating them. Dialogue within the game will also include drug references, such as a line mentioning "fentanyl," and the script contains strong language, including "fck" and "sht."

The rating also specifies "partial nudity," noting that "a handful of sequences briefly depict a character's exposed buttocks." The specific character has not been confirmed, but the ESRB's description suggests the potential for glimpses of Logan Howlett's anatomy, referencing past on-screen depictions. Mystique, also confirmed to be in the game, is another possibility.

Marvel's Wolverine is described as an action game where players assume the role of James Logan, also known as Wolverine, as he reunites with Team X to confront a dangerous threat. The game will also feature in-game purchases.
