Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has launched, but initial player reactions have been mixed, with PC players particularly citing optimization issues. Despite these concerns, the core gameplay has drawn enjoyment from some, who appreciate seeing anime-styled Marvel characters in Dragon Ball-style battles. However, the base roster of only 20 characters has left many wanting more.
Developer Arc System Works has confirmed that additional characters will be added via post-launch DLC. The reveal of the Phoenix version of Cyclops as the first DLC fighter has sparked speculation about what other unique iterations of Marvel characters could make their way into the game. While the initial DLC may lean towards cosmic characters, there is ample room for unexpected additions. Here are 10 characters that fans are hoping to see join the Marvel Tokon roster.
Alternative Takes on Established Heroes
Classic hero Thor is conspicuously absent from the initial lineup. One fan-favorite concept is the "Unworthy Thor," a version of Odinson who becomes unworthy of Mjölnir, a storyline explored in the comics. Another compelling idea is a reimagined Silver Surfer wielding Thor's hammer, Mjölnir. This alternate future version of Norrin Radd, as seen in Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw's Thanos run, combines the Power Cosmic with Thor's abilities, promising a diverse moveset.
Daredevil is another surprising omission. Instead of Matt Murdock, fans have proposed Elektra taking on the mantle, a concept explored in Chip Zdarsky's Daredevil run. Having trained under the same master, Stick, she could offer a similar playstyle to Daredevil but with her signature sai.
Similarly, Iron Fist, typically represented by Danny Rand, could be introduced as Orson Randall. This World War I veteran Iron Fist uniquely combines twin handguns with his martial arts, offering a distinct combat style.
Fans also envision an "Agent Venom" featuring Flash Thompson, who uses military weapons alongside his symbiote powers, providing a different take than the expected Eddie Brock Venom.
Unique Character Concepts
Kitty Pryde, a character with a long history of transformations, could appear as "Shadowkat," a ninja version of herself. This iteration, combined with her phasing abilities, would make her a formidable fighter. Her dragon companion, Lockheed, would ideally accompany her.
A striking concept is Thanos adopting the persona of the Punisher, as seen in the "Cosmic Ghost Rider" storyline. This alternate-future Thanos, raised by Frank Castle, offers a fresh, gauntlet-free take on the Mad Titan.
Colossus, currently an NPC on the X-Men's mansion map, could be playable in his "Juggernaut Colossus" form from the Fear Itself event. This would grant him immense strength and a potentially monstrous transformation.
Dani Moonstar, a member of the New Mutants, could join as a Valkyrie. This version of the character combines her mutant psychic abilities with the magical powers of a Valkyrie, potentially making her a unique standout on the roster.
Finally, the roster could benefit from a Sorcerer Supreme, with Clea being a strong candidate. As Doctor Strange's ally and successor, her mastery of magic from the Dark Dimension would make her a formidable addition.
