A significant data leak from the Steam achievement tracking site Exophase may have inadvertently revealed details about upcoming games, including several potential worlds for Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts IV. The database, which monitors trophies and achievements across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, began listing achievements for unannounced titles, drawing widespread attention online.
Exophase owner Mike Bendel suggested that the issue stemmed from an error on Valve's end, rather than a malicious breach. He explained via a ResetEra thread that a number of games with achievements that should have remained private became accessible through Steam's API, leading to their detection and scanning by Exophase. Bendel noted that it was unusual to see games with placeholder names appearing with achievements, as they typically only show up with a proper title.
Among the notable titles that surfaced on the site were Fable, Judas, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Kingdom Hearts IV. For Kingdom Hearts IV, the leaked achievement list reportedly details several Disney-themed worlds beyond the previously confirmed setting based on Pixar's Coco. According to the information compiled, these potential worlds include Quadratum (a setting already known from Kingdom Hearts), Haunted Mansion, a Galaxy Far, Far Away (likely Star Wars), Land of the Dead (Coco), Monochrome Origins (possibly a reference to early black-and-white Mickey Mouse cartoons), Savanna Central (Zootopia), Toy Box (Toy Story), Scala ad Caelum (a returning Kingdom Hearts location), and Imagineer Planet (potentially referencing Disney theme parks and development).
Square Enix has not yet commented on the leak. The company has only officially confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV will feature a world based on the Disney-Pixar film Coco. The full scope of worlds for the highly anticipated title remains speculative pending official announcements.
