Capcom has revealed new gameplay details for its upcoming title, Mega Man: Dual Override, which is slated for release next year. A trailer shown at Gamescom Opening Night Live highlighted several gameplay elements that draw heavily from the Mega Man X series, a hundred-year sequel to the original Mega Man games.

The trailer showcased Mega Man utilizing special equipment that grants him abilities such as dashing and hovering. These movement options, particularly the dash, were hallmarks of the Mega Man X series, contributing to its faster-paced action compared to its predecessors. It remains unclear how frequently these abilities will be available in Mega Man: Dual Override, and whether they will function as permanent upgrades akin to the MMX titles or be reserved for specific situations.

Beyond the MMX-inspired mechanics, the trailer also featured unique powers not seen in the X series. One such ability demonstrated was a rapid-charged fire attack that filled the screen with projectiles, efficiently dispatching multiple enemies. The new title also introduced Twinkle Girl, a new Robot Master, marking the second female Robot Master in the franchise's history, following Splash Woman from Mega Man 9.

Following the announcement, a teaser revealed that Mega Man and Roll-themed skins would be available for the characters Hugh and Diana in the game Pragmata. Pragmata itself was previously rumored to be a stealth reboot of the Mega Man series before its official release.
