Kojima Productions' 2008 release, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, a game initially billed as the final chapter for Hideo Kojima's iconic series, is being revisited in a new Super Replay series by Game Informer. The title tasked itself with concluding decades of intricate storytelling, bringing together key characters like Solid Snake, Ocelot, Otacon, and Raiden for a definitive finale.
The narrative centers on an aging Solid Snake in a race against time to thwart his twin and nemesis, Liquid Snake, amidst what is described as a complex web of bizarre events. Guns of the Patriots garnered acclaim for its compelling narrative, cinematic presentation, and advancements in stealth gameplay, notably introducing the OctoCamo suit, which allowed Solid Snake to blend into his surroundings by mimicking surface textures.
This revisiting of Metal Gear Solid 4 comes as the game is now accessible on modern platforms through the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The Super Replay series will feature Charles Harte, a newcomer to the Metal Gear series, experiencing Guns of the Patriots for the first time. He will be joined by Marcus Stewart, a long-time fan who is returning to the title after more than a decade. The first episode of the series, titled "Charles Goes in Blind," began streaming live on Twitch and YouTube, and subsequent episodes will air weekly until the game's conclusion is reached.
