Award-winning composer Mick Gordon has contributed a new track to Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, the upcoming '90s-inspired shooter from Auroch Digital and Big Fan Games. This marks Gordon's latest involvement with the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

The new track can be heard in the latest release date trailer for Boltgun 2, which also revealed the game's launch date. The title will arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 14, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version to follow shortly after. The trailer also provides the first look at the game's primary antagonist, Vashtorr the Arkifane, characterized as a "daemonic demigod of inventors, engineers, scientists, and artisans."

Recent previews of Boltgun 2 have highlighted its successful evocation of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. One preview noted that the game "brings the grimy, oppressive reality of the 42nd Millennium to life with a readable, pixelated style that evokes the essence of it in a way that even the most hyperrealistic renditions like Space Marine 2 struggle to match," further stating that it "feels like undiluted 40K."

Mick Gordon is widely recognized for his work on the soundtracks for 2016's Doom and Doom Eternal. While his relationship with Doom Eternal executive producer Marty Stratton was publicly strained, Gordon is set to perform the Doom 2016 soundtrack live at the UK-based RADAR 2027 festival. This performance will be the first time the soundtrack has been presented in a live concert setting, following a medley performance at The Game Awards 2016.
