MOLE, a new psychological horror experience with tactile simulation elements, has launched on Steam. Developed by Off Black Creations, a studio founded by former members of 10 Chambers (developers of GTFO), the game places players in the role of the Navigator aboard a colossal drilling vessel deep beneath the earth.

The vessel, described as a fortress-sized drill, is off course and drifting through magma. The Navigator finds themselves alone, with the rest of the crew missing or deceased. The ship itself is filled with unsettling peculiarities, including carpets of flowers, depictions of four-winged angels, and a mysterious "Signal."

Gameplay involves first-person exploration and interaction with the ship's complex systems. Players will be tasked with twiddling knobs, tapping dials, and pulling levers to repair the vessel and uncover the truth behind the crew's disappearance. The Steam page suggests that the game involves spiraling into the player's own history, with memory fragments surfacing and choices impacting the narrative.

The narrative of MOLE is said to last approximately four to five hours. Developers Sean Falk and Daryna Tolmachova, formerly of 10 Chambers, formed Off Black Creations. The studio is also reportedly working on a board game centered on gambling with memories.

Thematically, MOLE evokes a sense of dread and isolation, drawing comparisons to other games that feature claustrophobic environments and psychological distress, such as Mike Klubnika's "clicky torture instruments," Iron Lung, and Mouthwashing. The game's themes revolve around madness, faith, and the metaphorical depths players choose to explore, amplified by the vessel's bloody religious symbolism.
