Gerard Way, the iconic frontman of My Chemical Romance, has confirmed he has not yet played the critically acclaimed RPG Baldur's Gate 3. Way made the admission during a recent My Chemical Romance concert at London's Wembley Stadium, responding to a fan's banner that posed the question: "Gerard, have you played Baldur's Gate 3?".
While Way did not initially see the banner himself, his bandmate and brother, Mikey Way, brought it to his attention on stage. Gerard Way responded that he had only played the original Baldur's Gate, along with the Icewind Dale expansion, but had not found the time to delve into its sequels. He then inquired of the audience whether they had played Baldur's Gate 3 and if it was enjoyable, receiving a positive reaction.
Following this interaction, Larian Studios, the developer behind Baldur's Gate 3, took notice. The studio extended an offer to Way via their official social media, stating, "Gerard, there's a @baldursgate3 code with your name on it if you fancy trying it lots of love, larian xoxo."
My Chemical Romance's music often features vampire themes, making Way's unplayed status with Baldur's Gate 3's prominent vampire companion, Astarion, a point of interest for fans. The band has been reunited for seven years but has not released a new album since 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.
