Queens resident Jack Shi, 64, has found himself in an unexpected role: the recipient of letters addressed to Marvel's Spider-Man. Shi purchased the four-bedroom house at 20 Ingram Street in Forest Hills, New York, three years ago, unaware that the property is also known as a residence for Aunt May in Marvel Comics lore. This connection has led fans of all ages to send fan mail to the address, intended for the wall-crawling hero.
Shi has embraced his unique status, stating, "I feel mild responsibility because Spider-Man, this is the American spirit." He has adopted a welcoming approach, telling the New York Post that he agrees to photos if fans wish to take them. His role has gained particular significance following the release of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" on July 31, 2026, a film that has brought New York City into the spotlight and seen significant box office success.
One fan letter shared by the New York Post asks, "Spider-Man, how do you do the things that you do like saving the world?" Another amusingly addressed to both Spider-Man and Deadpool inquired, "Can you come over to my house to play? We can watch TV together."
Beyond the movie's success, the heightened attention around Spider-Man has also benefited Insomniac Games' "Marvel's Spider-Man 2." The PlayStation video game has experienced a notable surge in interest, with players returning to explore its virtual New York City.
