Nicolas Cage is now a playable operator in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 as part of the game's "Summer of Action" event, arriving with the Season 4 Reloaded update on June 25. This addition allows players to embody the action star, with in-game references to his filmography, including phrases like "Wild at Heart" and "Gone in 60 Seconds."
Cage's inclusion marks the first time the actor has appeared in the Call of Duty franchise, a notable omission given his extensive career in action cinema, with films such as Con Air and The Rock being among his most popular works. The update promises "blockbuster battles" and "absolute chaos," as highlighted in an accompanying trailer.
While Black Ops 7 faced criticism for its campaign and some multiplayer content at launch, the developers have continued to update the game. The Season 4 Reloaded update introduces new content across multiple modes.
Multiplayer and Zombies Additions
Multiplayer will receive two new maps: Zenith, a cliffside compound, and Launch, a remaster from the original Black Ops. New modes include Team Blueprint Sharpshooter, where weapon blueprints rotate during a match, and Knife Fight for close-quarters combat. The popular "Black Ops Classic" mode, featuring iconic maps like Launch and Hacienda, will also become a permanent fixture.
Zombies players will experience Kowakujō, a new round-based map set in a feudal Japanese castle within the Dark Aether. This new area introduces supernatural enemies such as the Oni and fire-infused Hellhounds and Scorched Zombies. Players can utilize a new Wonder Weapon and a legacy weapon from the Mystery Box, along with new features like the Legendary Hellping Hound GobbleGum and the Ghostly Rifleman Trap. A new Main Quest and Cursed challenges offer XP and rewards.
Warzone and Endgame Content
Call of Duty: Warzone introduces Squad Gun Game, a larger version of the classic mode for squads of three, and the return of Buy Back Quads as a weekend limited-time mode. The Champion's Quest, an endgame challenge for elite squads, also returns. Rebirth Island will feature brighter, summer-themed weather.
The "Endgame" mode receives "Operation King Killer," where players must breach defenses and destroy a Central Command Node. Completing this operation with specific characters unlocks new weapon camos. A new Guardian Skill Track offers defensive capabilities, alongside new Exotic and Nightmare Skills, and a Psych Grenade Minor Ability.
New Weapons, Events, and Store Items
The update also brings new weapons, including the Executioner's Duet melee weapon and the AN-94 Assault Rifle, alongside new attachments. A new Event Pass featuring Nick Cage will be available, complemented by a Summer of Action Daily Login Event and various Ranked Series events, all offering rewards such as weapon camos and Double XP tokens. New store bundles, including a Tracer Pack: Ironclad Mastercraft Bundle, will also be released.
For players looking to try out the new content, Black Ops 7 Multiplayer and Zombies will be available for free for a limited time, including the new Zenith and Kowakujō maps. Details on the free trial period will be announced soon.
Looking ahead, Activision has stated that the 2026 Call of Duty title, developed by Infinity Ward, will aim to exclude "goofy" cosmetic items. Modern Warfare 4 is slated for release on October 23rd for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with a playable demo at Fanatics Fest from July 16th to July 19th.
