The upcoming vampire RPG Nighthawks has been given an adult content label on Steam, a decision that developers Wadjet Eye Games and writer Richard Cobbett are contesting. The classification has led to the game being excluded from Steam searches and delisted in certain countries, a situation the developers are actively trying to resolve.

Dave Gilbert of Wadjet Eye Games stated on Bluesky that Valve is under the impression the game is significantly more suggestive than it actually is, likening the classification to treating Nighthawks as a pornographic title. He noted that the developers are working with Valve to have the label reversed.

Richard Cobbett, the game's writer, told PC Gamer that the exact trigger for the issue remains unclear. He explained that the game features only a few brief visual elements, such as brief butt shots and other censored scenes within companion romances, and that any explicit content is generally handled with a fade to black. Cobbett and Wadjet Eye Games are hopeful that Valve will reconsider the classification after reviewing their concerns.

This situation echoes similar instances where games have faced adult content labels on Steam, such as the satirical title Future? No Thanks!, which was later re-evaluated. Nighthawks, which has been in development since 2018, is scheduled for release on September 22nd.
